“I do portraits in black-and-white only,

because color leads me away from the essence of someone’s story.”

I was ten years old …

… when my mother gave me a small and simple camera to take pictures during a school trip. The other children took pictures of the landscape and the sights we visited, I returned with a film full of portraits of my fellow students.

As of that time photography has been an essential part of my life!

At sixteen I officially entered the world of photography, when two photographers based in Greece hired me as their assistant. I moved on to study at the Fotoacademie Amsterdam, and in 2005 I worked for a media operator, shooting fashion campaigns, real estate and events.

Everyone is beautiful. As a photographer I aim to catch that individual beauty of a person and bring it out. Photography is like magic to me. The image that comes to life in the developing tray, that’s out of this world - even though I know exactly whether I pushed the button at the right moment, I don’t even need to see the image for that.

My way of working is intuitive. I have no preconceived plan, I improvise on the spot and often work with music in the background to be able to build rapport and concentrate on the exact right moment to push the button.

I do portraits in black-and-white only, because color leads me away from the essence of someone’s story. In black-and-white I have a more thorough understanding of how to play with the light and pay more attention to form.

I have experience in the following works and please feel free to contact me directly for a custom shoot.
